Star Lumber Leadership Changes Position The Company For Growth

(Wichita, KS)...January 21, 2010, the Stockholders and Board of Directors of Star Lumber & Supply Co., Inc. announced the following Senior Leadership Team promotions:
Christopher J. Goebel, a 36-year Star veteran and grandson of Star's founder Earl Gobel, who has served as President/CEO since 1989, has been named Chairman of the Board and CEO. Chris replaces former Board Chairman Robert L. Goebel, who will continue to serve as a member of the Star Board.
Patrick M. Goebel, a 20-year Star veteran and also a grandson of Earl Goebel, currently serving as Senior Vice President of Star's Building Material group, has now been named President and COO. Patrick also joins Star's Board of Directors, replacing his father, Michael, a 45-year Star veteran, who will continue in an advisory position.
"Completing these transitions during this really tough recession will well position Star Lumber and all our affiliate companies to take most advantage of the inevitable market recovery," stated Chris Goebel, Star's new Chairman and CEO. "I am thrilled with the continued trust and confidence that the Board and Goebel Family have provided me."

Patrick received his undergraduate degree from Kansas State University and his Executive Masters of Business Administration from Wichita State University. Before returning to Star he gained experience in public accounting and currently serves on boards of Wichita Festivals, Habitat for Humanity, St. Francis School Council and the Goebel Family-Star Lumber Charitable Foundation. He and his wife Paulette have 5 children.
