Rustic Alder, Cherry, and Maple.
Rustic woods are as natural as they come. Chosen for their "imperfections," the lumber features knots, swirling grains called burls, as well as occasional nicks and dents. No two boards are alike, and while stain will emphasis the unique look these woods are far too beautiful to paint.
The unique grain pattern of quarter-sawn oak results from cutting the log at a 90-degree angle from its growth rings. This produces a uniform, vertical pattern that runs the length of the board. The wood is less likely to twist or warp, and won’t allow liquids to pass through it. Due to the meticulous cutting required, quarter-sawn is more expensive than traditional oak.
Thermofoil is a description of a process/covering that is placed over manufactured wood. Often used in commerical applications as a solid color or imitation wood look, this material offers an economical alternative to white painted solid wood cabinets.
