When we purchased the home, we knew we needed to do some wiring updates because of the presence of knob and tube electrical wiring. Knob and tube electrical wiring is no longer in code, and we wanted to bring it back to code. We brought in a local partner to help up us with the electrical updates.
When you see ceramic knobs with wiring wrapped around them and snaking through them and the rafters, you will know you have knob and tube electrical in your home. This system is very antiquated and will need to be replaced. When you update the wiring in a home you will also do the same with the circuit boxes.
